Sepcial Report: Blast rocks Egypt's Red Sea resort

CAIRO, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian police have detained 10 suspects in connection with Monday's triple bombings in the Red Sea resort of Dahab, which killed at least 23 people and injured dozens of others, state media reported on Wednesday.

The Egyptian Gazette, citing security sources, said the arrest campaign took place near the scenes of the attacks in Dahab in the Sinai peninsular.

But police did not reveal any further information, including whether the suspects were locals or had connections with international terror groups.

No one or group has yet claimed responsibility for the Dahab bombings, which Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak condemned as "terror acts."

Mubarak also ordered an immediate payment of compensation to families of the victims.

Each of families of the victims would receive a compensation of 60,000 Egyptian pounds (about 10,434 U.S. dollars), according to the official MENA news agency.

Mubarak ordered a rapid removal of the debris that resulted from the explosions to allow life to be restored to normal as quickly as possible in Dahab.

He said that it was important to take all necessary security measures to protect tourism, a major hard currency earner for the Egyptian economy. Enditem
