OTTAWA, April 25 (Xinhua) -- A 23-year-old Canadian man and a 12-year-old girl are facing murder charges Tuesday after police in Alberta province found three people dead in their home.
The bodies of a middle-aged man, a middle-aged woman and a pre-teen boy were found Sunday in their home in Medicine Hat, located in southeastern Alberta near the border with Sakchachewen province.
Police said the family moved to Medicine Hat from Ottawa, Ontario about three years ago.
On Monday, police announced they had arrested two people, 23-year-old Jeremy Allan Steinke and the 12-year-old girl.
The two were arrested in Leader, just across the border in Saskatchewan, and have each been charged with three counts of first-degree murder.
The two are acquaintances and are expected to be returned to Medicine Hat on a remand warrant and will appear in court sometime in the next few days, according to Sgt. Dave Townsend of Medicine Hat police.
Police have also recovered a 1987 Dodge Dakota truck they were seeking earlier, which they believe is linked to the case. Enditem |
