Oil prices close with record highs above 72 dollars

    NEW YORK, April 19 (Xinhua) -- World crude oil prices closed with record highs above 72 dollars Wednesday amid worries of supply in Iran and Nigeria, as U.S. energy stocks dropped.    NEW YORK, April 18 (Xinhua) -- World crude oil prices closed with record highs above 71 dollars on the eve of U.S. energy stocks weekly report Tuesday, amid worries of supply in Iran and Nigeria.

New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in May, added 93 cents to close at 71.35 dollars a barrel, its highest closing price since 1983, after touching intra-day high of 71.60 dollars, the highest price since 1983. Full Story>>

World oil prices hit new record

   BEIJING, April 18 (Xinhua) -- World crude oil prices surged to fresh intraday highs on Tuesday, amid international tensions over Iran's nuclear program.

    New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in May, rose 48 cents to 70.88 dollars a barrel in Asian electronic trading, surpassing the previous intraday record high of 70.85 dollars set on Aug. 30, when Hurricane Katrina lashed the U.S. Gulf Coast. Full Story>>

    NEW YORK, April 17 (Xinhua) -- World crude oil prices closed at record highs Monday, amid worries of supply in Iran and Nigeria.

    New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in May, added 1.08 dollars to close at 70.40 dollars a barrel, its highest closing price since 1983, after touching intra-day high of 70.45 dollars, the highest intraday price since Aug. 31. Full Story>>

Oil price breaks $70 mark as Iran nuke tension simmers

    BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhuanet)-- Brent North Sea crude oil was traded at 70.20 dollars a barrel for the first time on Thursday evening due to simmering tensions of Iran nuke issue.
