¡¡BOAO, Hainan, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong on Saturday said China would continue cementing ties with Sri Lanka in all fields for win-win progress.

    At a meeting with Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia annual conference, Zeng said the two countries had enhanced political trust, expanded trade and economic cooperation and promoted friendship between their people since they forged diplomatic ties in 1957.

    Zeng appreciated the stance of the Sri Lankan government to adhere to the one-China policy and support China on the issues of Taiwan and Tibet, which concern China's core interest.

    China also understands and supports the Sri Lankan government's strive for preserving national unification and territorial integrity.

    Zeng suggested the two countries further understanding and friendship between the two governments and peoples, and promote exchange and cooperation in all fields for a win-win prospect.

    He also proposed the two sides take care of each other's concern on major issues which involve national interest and continue coordination on international and regional issues.

    Wickramanayake also spoke highly of the bilateral ties, noting the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

    "It is our hope to further exchange with China in all fields and strengthen bilateral ties via celebration activities," he said.

    The Sri Lankan government supports China's stance on the Taiwan issue and will not support secessionist activities in any form, he said. Enditem
