6 Chinese enter French Open main draw

    BEIJING, April 21 -- A total of six female Chinese players have booked their place in the main draw in the upcoming French Open Grand Slam championships.

    All of the players are among the top 108 in women's world rankings, which earn them direct entry to the main draw.

    The team consists of Australian doubles winners Zheng Jie and Yan Zi, Athens Olympic champions Li Ting and Sun Tiantian, veteran player Li Na and rising stars Peng Shuai and Yuan Meng.

    Also in the main draw are home favorite and world number one Amelie Mauresmo, Russian teenager Maria Sharapova, American ace Lindsay Davenport and defending champion Justine Henin-Hardenne.

    The 2006 French Open will kick off at Roland Garros on May 28. Enditem
