WASHINGTON, April 20 (Xinhua) -- The United States Figure Skating Association nominated Los Angeles to host the world championships in the year 2009.

    It was announced by the US organization on Wednesday. A final decision by the International Skating Union (ISU) on the host city will be made in July.

    The United States held the event last time in 2003 when the District of Columbia was the host city.

    Next year's world championships will be held in Tokyo. Enditem
