White House press secretary announces resignation

กก  WASHINGTON, April 19 (Xinhua) -- As anticipated, White House press secretary Scott McClellan on Wednesday announced his resignation, CNN reported.

    It is part of an ongoing shakeup in the Bush administration that has already yielded a new chief of staff and could lead to changes in the Cabinet.

    Just before U.S. President George W. Bush boarded a helicopter at the start a trip to Alabama on the White House South Lawn in the morning, McClellan told the president: "I have given you my all sir, and I will continue to do so as we transition to a new press secretary."

    Bush said he appreciated McClellan's service, saying the latterhad "a challenging assignment" as the White House press secretary.

    "It's going to be hard to replace Scott (McClellan), but nevertheless he made the decision and I accepted it," he said. Enditem
