Turkey strongly condemns Tel Aviv suicide attack
www.chinaview.cn 2006-04-18 18:39:17

ANKARA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Turkey on Tuesday strongly condemned a deadly suicide attack in Israel's Tel Aviv one day earlier, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul called his Israeli counterpart Tzipi Livni and expressed his deep sorrow and condolences to her.

Gul was quoted as saying that "those who are trying to fuel violence and tension in the region must be stopped."

A Palestinian suicide bomber, member of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War), blew himself up at a restaurant in Tel Aviv Monday afternoon, killing eight Israelis and wounding dozens of others. Two Turkish citizens were among the wounded.

The Islamic Jihad and the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, linked to the Fatah movement, claimed responsibility for the bombing attack.   Enditem
