JAKARTA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian rescuers on Tuesday found 41 survivors from a ferry that sunk off East Nusa Tenggara province earlier on Monday but the fate of other passengers remained unknown.

The survivors, including six ferry crews, were stranded on Ndao island, about 2,000 km east of Jakarta.

The eight-ton "Bervista 2" ferry reportedly was carrying 110 people when the accident occurred.

"All the survivors are still staying on Ndao island," local government spokesman Jem Therik was quoted by the Detikcom online news as saying.

Local authorities have deployed medical personnel and rescue team for the evacuation process, Jem said. Enditem
