LONDON, April 15 (Xinhua) -- A British soldier was killed in a bomb blast in south Iraq on Saturday, the Defense Ministry said.

The soldier from the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards died of injuries sustained in an explosive device attack, a spokesman for the ministry said.

The blast in the northern part of the southern Iraqi city of Basra also left three other soldiers slightly wounded.

The death has raised the number of British troops killed in Iraq to 104 since March 2003.

The event coincided with a suicide bomb attack on British troops in Afghanistan in which another three soldiers were injured. Enditem
