PUTUO, Zhejiang, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Participants in the First World Buddhist Forum began a grand prayer for world peace at Putuoshan, one of the four most sacred Buddhist sites in China, at 9:00 a.m. Sunday.

    Over 1,000 people including many well-known Buddhists and scholars are participating in the forum in Hangzhou and Zhoushan cities, Zhejiang Province, which began last Thursday.

    The forum is the first such event in the history of Chinese Buddhism.Enditem
