WASHINGTON, April 14 (Xinhua) -- New York Knicks coach Larry Brown left hospital on Friday, but will miss Friday's home game against the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA season.

Brown went to the locker room late in the third quarter of Thursday night's 87-91 loss game against the Cleveland Cavaliers and was taken to a local hospital on a stretcher.

"He has a stomach ailment and will not coach vs. Milwaukee tonight," the team said in a statement. "However, he is fully cleared to return to the bench when he feels ready. Assistant coach Herb Williams will coach the Knicks tonight in his place."

It will be the first game Brown has missed this season. He was also hospitalized in Memphis in February with chest pains, but was back on the bench in time for the next game.

While coaching the Detroit Pistons last season, Brown missed 17games after having a hip replaced. That operation led to a bladder problem that required surgery in November.

Brown received a reported five-year contract worth between 50 million and 60 million dollars in July, making him the highest-paid coach in professional sports history. Enditem
