Special Report: Tension accelerates in Iraq

BAGHDAD, April 13 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. soldier was killed when his vehicle hit a roadside bomb in an area in southwest of Baghdad on Thursday, the U.S. military said in a statement. The brief statement did not specify the exact location of theattack.

Late on Wednesday, the U.S. military announced that two U.S.soldiers were killed in separate events -- one from non-hostile fatal wounds in a U.S. military base near Iraq's northern town of Tal Afar on April 10 and the other in a roadside bomb attack in eastern Baghdad on April 12.

The latest deaths brought to about 2,360 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to figures released by the U.S. Department of Defense.Enditem
