LIMA, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The daughter and brother
of Peru's former president Alberto Fujimori on Tuesday advanced steadily to
their seats in the congress, according to initial results for Sunday's general
elections in Peru.
According to the National Electoral Process Office,
the 30-year-old Keiko Fujimori has garnered the most votes for the congressional
candidates. Keiko had acted as Fujimori's first lady from 1992 to 2000, after
the separation of her parents.
Meanwhile, early results indicated that the youngest
brother of the former president, Santiago Fujimori, 59, would also have
possibility to get a seat in the congress.
Keiko has said that the support is due to the
Peruvian people's support of her father.
"This triumph is not mine. It's Alberto Fujimori's,"
Keiko told the Chilean daily newspaper La Tercera as initial votes count shows
she is winning a congress seat.
Both of them are from the party of Alliance for the
Future (AF),which was projected to get 14 or 15 of the 120 seats in Congress.
Alberto Fujimori is detained in Chile and faces an
extradition process at the petition of the Peruvian government. Enditem
