ROME, April 10 (Xinhua) -- The center-left coalition, led by former European Commission boss Romano Prodi, now led in Italy's parliamentary election by a margin of about 5 percent over the center-right, headed by incumbent Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, showed the latest exit polls published by the RAI state television on Monday.
According to the exit polls conducted by the Nexus polling agency in five out of a total of 20 constituencies, the center-left temporarily gained the upper hand over the center-right, but the margin could be narrowed when more results came out, RAI reported.
So far, Berlusconi has not made any comments on the exit polls. Prodi is expected to address supporters at 6:30 p.m. local time.
Meanwhile, the Italian Interior Ministry said that based on the statistics in 38 out of a total of 110 provinces, the turnout now stood at 84.5 percent as compared to 81.4 percent in the last election. Enditem |
