LOS ANGELES, April 9 (Xinhua) -- "Ice Age: The Meltdown" reached Top Box Office again, raking in an estimated 34.5 million U.S. dollars this weekend, beating rivals for the second week, according to estimates released on Sunday.

    The film has brought the total two-week gross for the animated sequel to about 116.4 million dollars, according to the Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc., a box office tracker which released weekend estimates from the studios.

    The 20th Century Fox sequel is about prehistoric animals suffering amid global warming.

    A handful of new releases this weekend were left cold by "Ice Age's" box office grip.

    "The Benchwarmers," a comedy, came in second place, bringing in 20.5 million dollars. "Take the Lead," which depicts a dance instructor to a group of teenagers, pulled in an estimated 12.8 million dollars, according to the box office tracker which measures the Friday-to-Sunday period. Final figures will be released on Monday.

    In fourth place was Spike Lee's "Inside Man," a thriller which brought in about 9.2 million dollars, bringing the film's three-week take to 66.1 million dollars.

    R-rated crime thriller "Lucky Number Slevin" came in fifth place, bringing in about 7.1 million dollars. Some analysts expected more of a box office draw for the film.

    Rounding out the top 10 were "Failure to Launch" (4.1 million dollars); "ATL" (3.8 million dollars), "V for Vendetta" (3.4 million dollars); "Phat Girlz" (3.1 million dollars); "Thank You for Smoking" (2.4 million dollars).

    The weekend's top 12 grossing films brought in an estimated 105.1 million dollars, compared with 132.1 million dollars the previous weekend and 79 million dollars during the same period in 2005. Enditem
