Special Report: Tension accelerates in Iraq

BAGHDAD, April 9 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. marine died of wounds sustained in "enemy action" in the volatile Anbar province on Friday, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

The name of the victim is being with held pending notification of next of kin, the military said in a brief statement.

The latest death brought to about 2,350 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to figures released by U.S. Department of Defense. Enditem
