BEIJING, April 6 -- Barcelona is back in the semifinals of the Champions League. Arsenal is there for the first time. Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o scored to lead Barcelona over visiting Benfica 2-0 Wednesday night following a 0-0 tie in the first leg.

Coming off a 2-0 win at home, Arsenal played a 0-0 tie at Juventus to win the total-goals series.

Barcelona plays AC Milan in the semifinals starting April 18, and Arsenal meets Villarreal the following day.

Ronaldinho, whose fifth-minute penalty kick was saved by goalkeeper Moretto, tapped in the first goal in the 19th minute at Camp Nou after Eto'o rolled a pass across the front of the net. Eto'o added a goal in the 89th, letting the ball hit his chest and then the ground before scoring.

"It's the same with all games at this level. When you're 1-0 ahead there's no peace of mind," Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard said. "That's why we had to work and battle until the end."

Barcelona, which won its only European Champions Cup title in 1992, last made the semifinals in 2002 but lost to Real Madrid.

Arsenal, which has won both the UEFA Cup and the defunct Winners Cup, had never before reached the semifinals of Europe's top club competition.

"We did everything possible and played a good match, but the 2-0 from the first leg was too difficult to recover," Juventus coach Fabio Capello said. "We could not have done any better at this stage of the season."

Arsenal had a pair of chances in the second half, but goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon stopped shots from Thierry Henry and Cesc Fabregas — the scorers in the first leg. Juventus' Pavel Nedved was ejected in the 77th minute when he got his second yellow card for a rough foul on Emmanuel Eboue.

"Tonight we played in a restricted way," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. "We didn't play with freedom when we had the ball, but we were in control."
