MADRID, April 4 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish Agency for International Cooperation
has sent six tons of humanitarian aid to earthquake victims in Iran,
the agency said on Tuesday
The agency charte red a Hercules transport aircraft, carrying 656 six-man
tents, 480 canvas covers and four electrical generators, to Teheran from the
Torrejon de Ardoz base at 11.30 a.m. (1030 GMT) local time, the agency declared.
Its officials will distribute these relief materials alongside Spanish
embassy officials and local authorities once the plane arrives in Teheran, the
agency added.
It estimated the Iran quake had hit some 200 settlements and killed over
100 people, said the agency.
The quake, along with the strongest of the 43 aftershocks which rattled at
04:47 a.m. (0117 GMT) Friday morning in Iran's western province of Lorestan, has
killed at least 70 people and injured nearly 1,300 so far.
The disaster also rendered about 15,000 families homeless and damaged 330
villages to various degrees, according to the IRNA. Enditem |
