              Turkmenistan reiterates one-China policy

BEIJING, April 4 (Xinhua) -- China and Turkmenistan will further enhance law-enforcement cooperation in security and anti-terrorism sector, according to a joint statement signed in Beijing on Monday.

Chinese President Hu Jintao and visiting Turkmenistan President Saparmurat Niyazov signed the statement after their talks in Beijing.

Niyazov started his six-day state visit to China on Sunday.

Terrorism, splittism and extremism pose a grave threat to the security and stability in the region, the statement says. An agreement inked during the visit will direct the cooperation in combating such forces.

The two countries agreed that it is an important component of the worldwide war against terrorism to crack down on the separatist forces of "East Turkistan". Enditem
