Controversial election fails to break political impasse
   BANGKOK, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Thai caretaker PM Thaksin Shinawatra has claimed victory in Sunday's snap election, a poll called by him 3 years earlier in hopes of defusing protracted street protests and rallies demanding his resignation. But the outcome apparently failed to appease his foes, who vowed to go on with their rallies until the premier steps down.

All opposition accept Thaksin's proposal on political break
   BANGKOK, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's three former opposition bloc and anti-Thaksin groups led by the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) have accepted caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's proposal on a political break.

Thaksin refuses to resign, opponents reject reconciliation offer
   BANGKOK, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra claimed Monday night that the voters had given him a mandate to form a new government, and he will continue his post to satisfy the 16 million supporters of all the voters.

Election Committee of Thailand announces to hold by-elections April 9
   BANGKOK, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Election Committee of Thailand announced on Tuesday that the committee will hold the by-elections in 39 constituencies on April 9, and the candidates application will start since April 5.

No TRT members ask Thaksin to take break: party leader
   BANGKOK, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Thai Rak Thai Party deputy leader Bhokin Bhalakula Tuesday said no one in the party had asked party leader Thaksin Shinawatra to take a break from politics.

Thaksin flies to seek King's advice
   BANGKOK, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra flew on an a helicopter to seek an audience with the King on 3:30 p.m. (0830 GMT) local time at the Kraikungwol Palace in Hua Hin Tuesday afternoon.
