BANGKOK, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Hours after the close of Thailand's snap election on Sunday afternoon, Thailand's caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said he would wait to see the results of the election and make an announcement on his political future.

He said he will made an important annoucement at 7:00 p.m. (1200 GMT) local time at his Thai Rak Thai party's headquarters.

When asked for details of his national government idea, Thaksin said he could not say anything now as he wanted to wait and see the election results first.

The election results were to be unveiled before Monday's dawn. Enditem
