JINAN, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Experts from China and the
Republic of Korea (ROK) proposed Saturday that a railway ferry should be built
between East China's Shandong Province and ROK's Kyonggi-Do to replace the
container ship transport.
The debarkation points should be at Weihai port of the Shandong Province and Pyongtaek port of Kyonggi-Do,
according to a China-ROK joint study issued at a seminar hosted by China's
traffic and transportation association and the Northeast Asia Economic Forum in
Weihai.
The study said a more efficient and low-cost
international logistic network was needed urgently as the bilateral trade and
economic cooperation between China and the ROK grew rapidly.
Once completed, the railway ferry will be able to
provide highly efficient logistical service to the two countries and help the
ROK explore a land transportation corridor to Europe via China, according to the
study, which was jointly conducted by China's traffic and transportation
association and ROK's boko economic institution. Enditem |
