กก  QIAN'AN, Jilin, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Villagers in Northeast China's Jilin Province returned to normal life Saturday after an earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale on Friday, as seismological experts predicted no more destructive quakes in nearfuture.

No casualties have been reported after the earthquake struck at8:23 p.m. on Friday with the epicenter in Laoyingtai Village located across Qian'an and Qian Gorlos counties in Songyuan City, about 200 km north of the provincial capital of Changchun.

The earthquake did not cause casualties because it lasted less than 10 seconds while the epicenter is 15 km underground, said the expert with the Jilin provincial seismological bureau.

Local buildings are anti-quake for usually being made of earth, the experts said.

Cracks can be seen on the wall of a number of houses in the village and some warehouses have collapsed.

Rescuers set up a few tents in case of more earthquakes, although the provincial seismological bureau predicted no more destructive quakes in near future.

The quake has been felt by residents of most parts of Jilin andsome regions in the neighboring provinces of Liaoning and Heilongjiang, and the northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Enditem
