JAKARTA, March 31 (Xinhua) -- The World Health Organization has confirmed one more death from bird flu in Indonesia, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 23, a health official said here Friday.

The one-year-old baby girl from Jakarta died recently at a local Hospital, I Nyoman Kandun, director-general of the disease control and environmental health under the Indonesian Health Ministry told Xinhua over phone.

He said the girl's blood sample tested positive by the WTO-sanctioned laboratory in Hong Kong.

Up to now, Indonesia has recorded 31 human cases of bird flu, he added.

Meanwhile, Kandun disclosed that local test showed that another 23-year-old man from Padang, capital of west Sumatra province, has also died of bird flu. Enditem
