BEIJING, March 31 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese armed forces are ready to promote cooperation with the Sudanese army, said Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan on Friday.

In his meeting with visiting Sudanese Defense Minister Abdel Rahim Mohamed Hussein, Cao said China and Sudan, since forging diplomatic ties in 1959, have enjoyed stable development of friendly and cooperative relations and made fruitful cooperation in various fields.

Cao, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and state councilor, said China appreciates the Sudanese government's consistent adherence to one-China policy and its support to China in international affairs, including the human rights.

The Chinese armed forces attach importance to developing relations with the Sudanese armed forces, and are ready to deepen the cooperation between the two sides in various fields, Cao noted.

Abdel Rahim Mohamed Hussein, who arrived on Thursday on an official goodwill visit to China, expressed his hope that his current visit could help the two armed forces to enhance exchanges and cooperation.

The defence minister reiterated that Sudan will continue to stick firmly to its one-China stance. Enditem
