WARSAW, March 30 (Xinhua) -- A dead swan in the northern Polish city of Grudziadz was confirmed on Thursday to have been infected with the lethal H5N1 bird flu virus, bringing the total number of bird flu areas in the country to five.
The State Veterinary Institute in Pulawy, central Poland, said on Thursday that the dead swan was tested positive for the deadly bird flu virus on Wednesday during routine tests and further tests on Thursday confirmed the preliminary results.
The four previous infected areas are Bydgoszcz, Torun, Kostrzyn and Swinoujscie. More than ten cases of H5N1 bird flu had been detected in Poland since the country confirmed its first case in Torun on March 5. Enditem
