WASHINGTON, March 30 (Xinhua)-- The Indiana Pacers
will retire Reggie Miller's No. 31 during halftime of tonight's contest against
the Phoenix Suns at Conseco Field house.
Miller scored over 25,000 career points and played
all 18 years in the league with the Pacers. Originally selected out of UCLA by
Indiana in the first round (11th pick overall) of the 1987 NBA Draft, Miller
played in 1,389 regular-season contests and averaged 18.2 points per game and
shot 39.5 percent from beyond the arc.
The 6-7 Miller was one of the NBA's most deadly
outside shooters and led Indiana to its only appearance in the NBA Finals
(1999-2000) . The Pacers fell in six games to the Lakers in the championship
round.
Miller was a five-time All-Star and played in 144
playoff games during his illustrious career.
Indiana attempts to halt a two-game losing streak.
The Pacers are the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race and are
one-half game behind No. 6 Milwaukee. Enditem
