BEIJING, March 30 -- Scarlett Johansson has been crowned as the sexiest woman in the world by readers of men's magazine FHM.

    The "Match Point" star jumped eight places from her No. 9 spot last year in the magazine's "100 Sexiest Women in the World" poll.

    "One of the best things for a woman to hear is that she is sexy. I'd like to thank FHM's readers for the huge compliment," Scarlett said in a statement.

    Last year's winner Angelina Jolie is down one spot to second place, followed by "Into the Blue" star Jessica Alba who came in third.

    The magazine's Editor in chief said, "It's remarkable how Scarlett Johansson has caught the attention of our readers. Her sultry voice and striking beauty certainly have a lot to do with that, but so does the confidence she exudes."

    Rounding out the Top 10 are "The Dukes of Hazzard" star Jessica Simpson, British beauty Keira Knightley, "Catwoman" star Halle Berry, Playboy pin-up Jenny McCarthy, tennis hottie Maria Sharapova, former "Baywatch" babe Carmen Electra, and "Desperate Housewives" star Teri Hatcher.
