BEIJING, March 30 -- Hollywood star Nicole Kidman has agreed to take on a secret spying mission.

The Australian-born Oscar winner has signed on to star in and produce a new cloak-and-dagger thriller that is being hailed as a female version of ˇ°The Bourne Identity,ˇ± according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The top-secret spy adventure is to be written by Simon Kinberg for Regency Enterprises and 20th Century Fox, the industry publication reported.

Regency and Fox were the production powerhouses behind last year's spy mega-hit ˇ°Mr. and Mrs. Smith.ˇ± That ignited the celebrated affair between its stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Kidman, 38, won the best actress Oscar in 2003 for playing British author Virginia Woolf in ˇ°The Hoursˇ± and has also starred in ˇ°Moulin Rouge.ˇ±
