All Chinese pairs advance in Asian Champ mixed

    JOHOR BAHRU, Malaysia, March 29 (Xinhua) -- All Chinese pairs cruised into the next round in mixed doubles Wednesday at the Asian badminton championships here.

    Shen Ye/Pan Pan, Zhang Wei/Yu Yang, Gong Weijie/Tian Qing defeated their respective opponents by the identical scoreline of 2-0, while He Hanbin/Zhao Yunlei advanced to the last 16 with a 2-1 victory.

    In the next round, they will all face seeded pairs.

    In the women's singles, all seeds stormed into the last 16 except Malaysia's No. 1 Wong Mew Choo and Cheng Shao Chieh from Chinese Taipei.

    Wong, the fourth-seeded of the tournament, suffered an early exit after losing 2-0 to China's Chen Li, and Cheng went down in straight sets to South Korea's Lee Yun Hwa.

    Joining them in the last 16 are top-seed Wang Chen of Hong Kongand China's Jiang Yanjiao, who both recorded 2-0 victories. Enditem
