ISLAMABAD, March 28 (Xinhua) -- A court in Pakistan on Tuesday rejected appeals of four air force employees against their death sentences, awarded to them for planning assassination attempts on Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf in Dec. 2003.
Musharraf survived two attacks in 2003 when his motorcade was attacked in the city of Rawalpindi near the capital Islamabad.
The accused have challenged death sentences awarded by a military court.
The Lahore High Court judge Syed Akhtar Shabir, while rejecting appeals after preliminary hearing, said that the court could not hear appeals against the verdict from military courts.
Six air force employees and a civilian were handed down death sentences by a military court for their assassination attempts on Musharraf.
Two air force employees have been awarded life imprisonment while a civilian has challenged his death sentence in the Supreme Court. Enditem |
