WASHINGTON, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Andy Roddick, James Blake and brothers Bob and Mike Bryan have been called up to the US squad for its Davis Cup quarter-final tie against Chile next month, the US Tennis Association announced Tuesday.

US captain Patrick McEnroe named the same foursome that defeated Romania in a first-round tie last month for the match up against Chile on grass April 7-9 at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.

"Andy and the Bryans have been the anchors of this team for years and James has stepped up and solidified himself as the number two American by playing some of the best tennis of anyone in the world this year," McEnroe said.

The Americans and Chileans will compete for the right to face either France or Russia in a semi-final tie on September 22-24.

"Playing Chile represents the next step in our ultimate goal of bringing the Davis Cup back to the US. I have full confidence in this team," McEnroe said.

Chile, which opened by ousting 2005 finalist Slovakia 4-1, will send Nicolas Massu, Fernando Gonzalez Adrian Garcia and Paul Capdeville against a US squad that has won their three prior meetings, the most recent coming in 1978.

Massu won the 2004 Olympic singles title and joined Gonzalez in capturing the men's doubles gold at Athens.

"The Chilean team is extremely dangerous. We have a lot of respect for them," McEnroe said. "I'm expecting them to play their absolute best. I'm expecting them to play better than they've ever played."

McEnroe said he has talked with Andre Agassi about playing in later rounds should the US advance.

"Any time he says he's interested, obviously I'm interested. I'd be crazy not to be. He's Andre Agassi," McEnroe said.

"It didn't work out for this match. Andre has some other issue she has to deal with just as far as getting his health on track, seeing if he can get his game back together. I certainly think he can.

"If there comes a point where we're lucky enough to be in the semifinals or even the final, and he can help us, I'd be crazy not to consider that." Enditem
