ĦĦBEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Trade unions of all levels should play a better role in protecting rights of migrant workers from rural areas, according to a State Council document published on Monday.

The document on resolving the issue of rural workers by the State Council also urges employers to ensure migrant workers' rights to join trade unions in accordance with the law.

Trade unions of different levels should try to safeguard the rights of migrant workers from the countryside, by urging employers to fulfill their duties endorsed by law and regulations,  focusing on the issues of employment contract, payment, working conditions, and industrial safety, it says.

In the document, the government attaches great importance to ensuring migrant workers' democratic and political rights. Workers' congress of a factory must include representatives of these people, while these people should enjoy equal rights, it says. Enditem
