BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) -- People's Daily is to publish an editorial, entitled "The Whole Society Should Care and Protect Rural Labors", on Tuesday, in response to the State Council's call for protecting the rights of migrant workers from the countryside.

    The State Council issued a document entitled "A Few Comments on Resolving the Issue of Rural Workers by the State Council", giving priority to resolving the issue of migrant workers from rural areas.

    The editorial hails the document, calling it the latest major step to protecting the legal rights of migrant laborers from the countryside, which is of great importance to promoting the Socialist New Countryside campaign and ensuring a healthy development of the country's industrialization, urbanization and modernization.

    Rural laborers are a new-type labor force in the country's reform and opening drive as well as its industrialization and urbanization, the editorial says, calling the migrant workers a "newly-emerging force who are the most active, helpful and respectful."

    It calls for the implementation of the State Council document by understanding its real meaning.  Enditem
