GAZA, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian new cabinet dominated by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) is ready to negotiate with the Quartet Committee for peace in the Middle East to end the ongoing regional conflict, incoming Prime Minister Ismail Haneya said Monday.
Haneya made the statement while presented his cabinet's program before the members of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) for approval.
In a long statement that included his cabinet's program, which focused on political, economical, security and social issues, Haneya said his government "is ready to meet with the Quartet Committee in order to find a solution to the ongoing conflict and achieve peace and settlement in our region".
He reiterated that his government is seeking to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital with full sovereignty, adding that "we reject partial solutions and temporary borders."
"We reject any project that lessens any of our legitimate rights, mainly the unilateral plans aiming at turning our homeland into isolated cantons that kills any opportunity for a living state," stressed Haneya.
He added "we are standing before a critical stage. The needed missions from the cabinet are not easy and the legacy is very heavy on all levels and fields. Therefore we have a hard job, we need the effort and the cooperation of all our people."
Meanwhile, Haneya called on the American Administration to listen to the calls of the Palestinian democracy and respecting their people's choices, saying "we call it to strengthen the Palestinian choice and not to impose siege on the people by threats and warnings."
"Our cabinet will hold right ties with the whole countries of the world and the world communities, including United Nations and its Security Council and other international organizations aiming at strengthening the international stability," he said.
The European Union (EU) offered lot of aids to the Palestinian people, supported their right in freedom and had serious stances in criticizing the occupation policies, therefore the Palestinians are meant to serious ties with the EU, said Haneya.
However, he called on the EU to reconsider its followed policies about the conflict in the region and expected the EU to have a greater role in pressurizing the Israeli occupation to pull out its troops from the occupied Palestinian territories and ending its violence against the Palestinian people.
Haneya reiterated that his cabinet expected from the international community, mainly the Quartet Committee, to take side with the justice to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region.
"We can give the donor countries two guarantees, the first is all the money would be spent in infrastructure and financing projects and it won't go to any other activity or party," said Haneya.
The second guarantee is that the donor countries can directly observe and watch the way how their money is spent and their cabinet would offer them all needed facility to observe where and how the money are spent, he added. Enditem |
