JOHANNESBURG, March 25 (Xinhua) -- South Africa was at risk of becoming a desert 30 years from now unless people started saving water, warned Buyelwa Sonjica, minister of water affairs and forestry, on Saturday.

South Africa was rated among 30 countries in the world who are running the risk of becoming a desert 30 years from now if they donot start to save water, the minister said ahead of National WaterWeek due to start on Monday.

"The current rainfalls in parts of the country should not delude us into thinking that we have water in abundance," the minister noted. Enditem
