GAZA, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Israeli warplanes struck different targets in central and northern Gaza Strip in retaliation for an earlier homemade rockets attacks on southern Israel, witnesses reported Saturday night.

    No injuries were reported.

The witnesses as well as Palestinian security sources said that Israeli warplanes fired one missile at an empty area east of al-Bureij refugee camp near the borders between central Gaza Strip and Israel.

Residents said that they heard a huge explosion, but no injuries or damages had been reported.

Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources said that two more missiles were fired at northern Gaza Strip, causing two huge explosions. No injuries or damages were reported either.

The airstrikes came after the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) militants fired two homemade rockets at southern Israel earlier on Saturday.

The rockets hit some constructions near the southern Israeli town of Ashkelon, causing no injuries, said the sources.

In another incident, a Palestinian was shot near the borders between central Gaza and Israel as he approached the borders around mid-night on Saturday, according to the sources. Enditem
