Cyclone Wati heading to NZ
www.chinaview.cn 2006-03-25 18:58:22

WELLINGTON, March 25 (Xinhua) -- The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Wati are expected to pass over northern New Zealand early next week, said New Zealand Metservice Saturday.

It said the category three cyclone is in the South Pacific Ocean and heading south east towards the Tasman Sea.

It has generated waves of up to five meters off Queensland's central coast, Australia.

It is expected to reach New Zealand on Monday or Tuesday, the Metservice said.

The Metservice said there was still uncertainty about the exact track of the depression.

It said it was possible the low would lie just east of New Zealand on Wednesday bringing easterly rain, possibly heavy, to eastern districts from North Canterbury to Hawke's Bay, New Zealand.

Details of the path of the depression should become clearer over the next few days, Metservice said. Enditem
