Angola registers 652 cholera cases, 22 deaths

    LUANDA, March 24 (Xinhua) -- The Angolan province of Luanda hasreported 652 cumulative cases and 22 deaths since the declaration of the cholera outbreak on February 13.

    According to a communique published by the office of the World Health Organization (WHO) here on Friday, in the last 24 hours, 101 new cases including 4 deaths have been reported in 8 municipalities affected by cholera.

    Up to date, the National Laboratory of Public Health had confirmed the isolation of Vibrio cholera 01 serotype INABA in 9 out of 13 samples from patients.

    The Angolan Ministry of Health, WHO and other partners continueto develop field activities to contain the further outbreak of cholera. Enditem
