BEIJING, March 22 (Xinhua) -- FIFA vice-president Issa Hayatou on Wednesday gave Beijing a vote of confidence for its preparatory work to host the soccer tournament of the 2008 Olympic Games.

"Through talks we found that BOCOG has done a good job," Hayatou told a press conference after wrapping up his two-day inspection visit to the Chinese capital.

A 10-man delegation from FIFA, world soccer's governing body, held talks with the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG) in various fields that include security, accommodation and match schedule.

Representatives of Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenyang and Qinghuangdao, the five cities that will host soccer matches during the 2008 Games, delivered reports on the progress of their preparations.

The FIFA delegation also had tours of three competition venues, including the National Stadium which is under construction.

"We are convinced that the stadiums will be completed on time and of good quality," said Hayatou through an interpreter. Enditem
