GAZA, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Director-General of the Palestinian Border
Authority, Salim Abu Safiah, said that Israel would reopen Karni commercial
crossing, the main cargo crossing and supply route between Israel and Gaza, on
Tuesday.
Abu Safiah said that Israel would open at the same time Kerem Shalom on the
Gaza-Israel border in line with an agreement aimed at ending humanitarian crisis
and lack of necessities in the Palestinian lands.
He said the Israeli side agreed to reopen Karni crossing during day time
and would shut down the access before night, adding there is coordination with
the Israeli side to bring into the Gaza Strip 100 trucks of food stuff and
medicine on Tuesday.
"I hope that the Israelis will stick to their promise and will not open
Karni only for 40 minutes as what happened on Monday," he said.
He said that there was a Palestinian-Israeli-American meeting Monday night
and more meetings are expected to be held in the future to guarantee the opening
of cargo crossings, especially Karni commercial terminal.
