WARSAW, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Two more cases of the deadly H5N1 bird flu have been confirmed in Poland, the Polish Agriculture Ministry said on Monday.

    Tests on a wild swan found dead in Bydgoszcz in the northern Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province showed it was killed by the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain of the virus, the ministry said in a statement.

    It was the third case of H5N1 bird flu reported in the city. Another wild swan found dead in the western city of Kostrzyn was also tested positive for the H5N1 virus.

    On the same day, Polish Agriculture Minister Krzysztof Jurgiel told a meeting of the EU agriculture ministers in Brussels that the EU should beef up economic aid for poultry farmers and poultry product producers as well as sellers to help them negotiate the sharp drop in poultry demand.

    Ten cases of H5N1 bird flu had been detected in Poland since the country confirmed its first case on March 5. Enditem
