CARACAS, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The Olympic Stadium in Caracas will be refurbished ahead of football's 2007 American Cup, the organizing committee said on Monday.
Ana Loreto, director of the Center for the Preservation and Development of the Central University of Venezuela, where the stadium is based, said that work will begin in the first week of April with the remodeling and amplification of areas within the grandstand.
Other planned work includes improving the lighting towers, grass, pitch, electronic scoreboard and improving the stadium's changing rooms.
The organizers will also install seats on both sides of the grandstand, increasing the capacity by 40,000 more spectators.
The South American Football Federation will inspect the competition venues during their first visit there in April. Enditem
