Special report: Crisis in Thailand

BANGKOK, March 18 (Xinhua) -- An anti-Thaksin protester was found dead Saturday afternoon at one of the demonstration sites in Bangkok. Primary investigation said the man died because of physical reason.

Some demonstrators reported to the police that a middle-age man seemed in a coma for several hours outside the Royal Army Headquarters where thousands of protesters have camped since Tuesday. His death was announced after a group of medical personnel checked his state, Thai TV channel 3 said.

Local police said the unidentified man was believed to have died of some physical reason, maybe caused by the hot weather.

It is the first victim of the mass anti-Thaksin demonstration which has lasted off and on for three weeks. Earlier the same day, a vice president of the Provincial Electricity Authority workers' union was assaulted by three men after joining the anti-Thaksin rally in front of the Government House.
