BEIJING, March 15 (Xinhuanet) -- The Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK) held a symposium on Wednesday to mark the 20th and 50th anniversary of two renowned Taiwan returnees' settlement on the Chinese mainland.

Wang Xijue and Wei Dawei stunned the world by piloting Taiwan aircraft to the mainland 20 and 50 years ago, when the mainland and Taiwan were living in complete isolation from each other.

Wang and Wei said at the ceremony that they had never regretted returning to the mainland and that they long for a swift and peaceful reunification of the motherland.

Wang piloted a Taiwan civil aircraft of "China Airlines, Taiwan" to the mainland, and joined RCCK in 1986. The move compelled the Taiwan leader at the time to agree to negotiations between "China Airlines, Taiwan" and the mainland civil aviation, which set a precedent for formal contact and dialogue between the two parties.

He Luli, chairperson of the RCCK Central Committee, said that after settling down on the Chinese mainland, Wang and Wei have served as senior officials with the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), RCCK and the General

Administration of Civil Aviation, making inspiring contributions to the country's modernization and reunification. Enditem
