Special Report: Tension accelerates in Iraq

BAGHDAD, March 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Two U.S. soldiers were killed on Tuesday in Iraq's volatile western Anbar province, the U.S. military said on Wednesday.

"Two soldiers, assigned to the 28th Combat Brigade Team, were killed while conducting operations in Anbar province on March 14," the military said in a statement.

The names of the killed soldiers are being with held pending notification of next of kin, the brief statement said. The latest deaths have brought the total death toll of U.S. military personnel in Iraq to at least 2,307 since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003. Enditem
