YAOUNDE, March 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Cameroon has detected the first case of the deadly H5N1 bird flu virus in a duck and become the fourth African country to report the pandemic, the government said Saturday.

A government statement said tests results from a Paris lab have proved the presence of the deadly virus on birds taken from a farmin the town of Maroua.

Three African nations, Nigeria, Egypt and Niger, have earlier reported outbreak of the bird flu epidemic, and Cameroon shares a 1,800-km border with Nigeria. Enditem
