Alliance seeks to bar Thaksin from election

   BANGKOK, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's demonstrators trying to oust caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra will end theirrallies and settle for a compromise: banning him from next Sunday's general election.

Thai govt not worried by opposition's calling for resignation

   BANGKOK, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's caretaker Deputy PrimeMinister Chidchai Vanasatidya said on Saturday that the government was not worried about a call by the former opposition Democrat Party for the caretaker government to resign en masse and appeal for the King to appoint an interim government with a new prime minister. 

Policeman killed after casting ballot in Thai South

   BANGKOK, March 25 (Xinhua) -- At least one policeman was killed and four others were injured Saturday as unidentified gunmen attacked a police vehicle carrying dozens of policemen who just cast ballots for the April 2 snap election in Thai southern province of Narathiwat.

Election process cannot be undone: Thai PM Thaksin

   BANGKOK, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said Saturday that the election had already begun and could not be undone.

Voters across Thailand cast votes in advance

   BANGKOK, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's statesman and President of the Privy Council Gen. Prem Tinsulanond and other celebrities turned out to cast their ballots in advance on Saturday, the Thai News Agency reported.
