BAGHDAD, March 10 (Xinhuanet) -- A car bomb went off in southwestern Baghdad near an Iraqi army patrol on Friday, killing a soldier and wounding three others, an Interior Ministry source said.

"A car bomb detonated around midday near an Iraqi army patrol in the Radhwaniyah area, killing a soldier and wounding three others," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. Iraqi security forces cordoned off the area searching for attackers, added the source.

Earlier in the day, a roadside bomb hit a U.S. convoy setting a tank on fire in eastern Baghdad, according to a source from the same ministry.

The U.S. military had no immediate information on the incident. Enditem
